Midlife Therapy in NYC

Midlife can arrive not only as a crisis, but as a quiet sense that the old structures no longer orient life in the same way.

For many people, midlife is not only about age. It can be a period when the structures that once gave life direction begin to shift. Work, marriage, parenting, ambition, identity, and the body may all feel different than they once did.

Some people enter this stage with anxiety, depression, restlessness, grief, relationship strain, career uncertainty, or a quiet feeling of being unmoored. Others may be functioning well on the outside while privately questioning what their life is now asking of them.

Therapy can provide a space to think honestly about these changes without rushing to fix them or dismiss them. The work may involve exploring identity, marriage or long-term partnership, parenting adult children, professional pressure, aging, loss, desire, responsibility, and the search for renewed meaning.

My approach integrates psychodynamic psychotherapy, mindfulness-based work, and evidence-based methods when helpful. I often help patients understand not only the symptoms they are experiencing, but also the deeper emotional and developmental transitions underneath them.

I offer in-person therapy in Midtown Manhattan near Grand Central, as well as virtual sessions for patients located in New York.
